The local currency is the South African Rand.
Most major international credit cards such as American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard, and Visa are widely accepted.
How to get to Umganu Lodge
Guests have the following options:
- Self Drive to Umganu Lodge (+- 4.5 hours from Johannesburg).
- Fly into Nelspruit airport and then either rent a car or charter a helicopter into Umganu Lodge.
- Fly into Skukuza Airport where we offer a transfer to Umganu lodge at a cost of R1600-00 one way.

Check-in & Check-out
Check-in is from 14:00 and check-out by 11:00.
The rates for pre-arrival shopping are as follows:
Checkers, Hazyview: R450-00 for transport and a 15% handling fee on the overall invoice,
Woolworths, Nelspruit: R950-00 for transport and a 15% handling fee on the overall invoice,

Please also be advised that Protea Hotel, Kruger gate is approximately 10 minutes’ drive from our Gate and they do have restaurant facilities.

Wood, charcoal and firelighters
These items are already prepared for upon arrival and charged for only on consumption.

Guided Game Drives in the Kruger National Park
Full Day Game Drive – 05h30 until 14h30 – Pick up from Elephant Point at Umganu Lodge @ R 1,050.00 p/p (Excludes park/conservation fee)
Afternoon Game Drive – 14h00 until 18h30 – Pick up from Elephant Point at Umganu Lodge @ R 650.00 p/p (Excludes park/conservation fee). There is a minimum charge raised for 4 guests, should your party be 3 guests and less, then the above rate per person will be multiplied by four for the minimum charge due. This does however give you exclusive use of the safari vehicle.
The rate includes bottled water, tea & coffee and the services of a professional, top-quality guide.
The rate excludes the Kruger Park Conservation (entry) fees of ZAR 328 per adult for international tourists and ZAR 82.00 per adult for SA citizens. These fees can be paid directly to the Kruger Park at the gate (in cash or with your credit card).
South Africa has a large network of hospitals that offer excellent services.
There is a paramedic on the reserve at Elephant Point. You will be informed about the procedure when arriving at Umganu Lodge.
Please ensure that you have adequate health insurance as a safety precaution when traveling to South Africa.
Low-risk malaria area
Umganu Lodge is in a low-risk malaria area. We highly recommend that you consult with your doctor before travel.
South Africa has seasons that are opposite to Europe and North America.
Summer months are from October – April with temperatures ranging from 28-35 degrees Celsius.
Winter months are from May – September with temperatures ranging from 16-25 degrees Celsius.
The Lowveld experiences a low annual rainfall which mostly occure during hte summer months.
